About our school

A school shaped by care and opportunity.

Afder International Boarding School brings formal and Islamic education together with accommodation, nutrition, personal care and student welfare in Hargele.

Members of the Afder community gathered at a school event.
Our beginnings

Built with a community behind it.

Shadow of Charity established Afder International Boarding School to expand access to quality education for orphaned and vulnerable children in Afder Zone.

The school was made possible through SOC’s commitment, individual donors, local businesses and regional-government support.

Learning is integrated with accommodation, nutrition, personal care and student-welfare support.

Our purpose

Education is strongest when every child is cared for.

Our boarding environment brings classroom learning, faith, accommodation, nutrition, personal care and student welfare into one supportive setting.

Students are selected from all woredas of Afder Zone and parts of Shabelle Zone. The school’s integrated approach is designed to help children participate in learning with dignity and confidence.
